I landed my latest account and they started asking me if I was HIPAA compliant. Of course I freaked, not knowing what they were talking about and tried to remain cool-headed and said, "To be honest, I am not real familiar with that, but I will research it and do what I can to become compliant"...

Networking with other MTs, I found out it is really not a big deal. I signed a business associate contract with all of my clients that THEY provided, and if they requested my "procedures" for being HIPAA compliant I provided them... just basic security measures of how I was keeping all medical information secure down to as simple as a smoke detector in my office ;)

The only area that really needed work was if I was going to send any files by internet, they have to be encrypted no matter what! :)
