The first doc I got was Indian and he mumbled just about the entire 52 minute dictation!! I wanted to cry! Then, that jerk decided to start eating a bag of chips, and that is when the waterworks turned on!!! I called the wonderful woman who hired me and she said, "Just do your best, I don't have anyone else to send you!" I was so afraid that I would transcribe him all wrong and get fired. I decided that if I was going to give this job a shot, I would have to pull it together and do all that I could. I shut the door to my office and I prayed a very long prayer!! Then, I just sat down and was able to transcribe the entire dictation in about two hours and only had to spend about three more after that filling in all the blanks!!! When I turned it in, QA told me that I had only one mistake, and that was on a non-medical term!! I was so excited! After about a week, I could transcribe 42 minutes in about an hour and a half, with only a few things to double-check spelling on! The point is, don't get discouraged!! It is very easy to think you can't do it, but you passed your transcription course because you worked at it, so just put your mind to it and you will do great! And as Venky said, there are 100,000s of docs out their that you can try, and many companies that you can get with who will let you work on a doc you can understand, until you get your groove!!!
