I recently got my certificate from a medical transcription program. I replied to an ad in the paper as an independent contractor. The 1st tape I got from the owner was a foreign doctor. She told me she was hoping not to have to give me this particular doctor 1st, but that was what she had picked up that day. He had a Spanish accent and I had a lot of problems understanding him. I'm sure if I had 3 days to work on his tapes, I could have figured out what he was saying, but I had to have the work dropped back off to her by 10:30 the next morning. I called her and told her there was no way I could do this. Now I feel like such a failure! Has anyone else encountered this? Should I just keep trying and hope that I can get work with a doctor that I can understand? I'm not the type to give up on anything, especially since I invested so much time in my schooling and have bought a ton of reference books, etc. I just feel so unsure of myself right now.
Thanks for any thoughts.
